What a weekend...

So, October is a pretty busy month for me with going back to work full time (ahh, so sad) and working on the hospital team and having call two of the four weekends. This was one that I was not on call and we played hard! Our friend invited us to go to this really amazing hike with her up in Ogden Canyon. It was called Via Ferrata and is a trail made with iron rungs up a mountain face. This type of hike originated in Italy and is now all over the Alps in different countries. Some guy decided to make his own up in Ogden. You have to wear a harnass and clip onto a cable the whole time and basically just climb up rocks and ladders to make it to the top of a 350 foot cliff. It was amazing to me and I think James kind of liked it. At least he completed it and did a great job. I know heights are not his favorite thing. I had the camera tied to my cables so most of these pictures are of James, but I really was there too :o) The access to these hikes was up Waterfall Canyon in Ogden Canyon. You probably can't see the waterfall behind us here, but it was pretty. Supposedly the water is amazing in the spring runoff.

This is the beginning of the intermediate climb. There are 4 different routes to climb and you can do it all day. Unfortunately, we only had time for one of them.

View from the cliffs down the mouth of the canyon.

More hiking:

This is our little dufflebag baby.

We got free tickets at the last minute to the BYU and San Diego State football game (thanks mom and dad, and sorry that you were sick). We already had arranged the hike up in Ogden and thought we'd be back around 3. The game started at 4 and we didn't get back home til 4, so we went straight to the game and forgot our little carrier for Finn. So, James being the ingenious and creative person that he is, suggested that we use his gym bag that just happened to be in the back of the car. Worked out great, but you should have seen the looks we got from people. The security people thought we were crazy and the concessions lady laughed and said we just made her day. He did look really cute, that's for sure. He actually didn't seem to mind it and I think it helped cut down on the noise from the crowds. He slept through the whole 3rd quarter. We tried to make a make-shift earmuff to lessen the roar from the crowd, but apparently they don't make headbands for boys. So we decided to support breast cancer awareness month with this cute little headband and cotton balls. I guess he's already an activist :o) I think we must be good luck because James and I have attended BOTH of BYU's wins this year!!!!

We did go to Zachary's soccer game on Friday night where they played an all girls team. Surprisingly, it was pretty well matched and they ended in a tie. But, Zachary's team had about 30 more shots on goal than the girls did. They just never ended up going in. Sunday I had to go to the hospital, but the rest of the day was nice and relaxing and I even got a nap and a walk on the trail. Well, that's it for now. Nice start to the fall and it's so beautiful!
