18 months and growing

Finn is officially 18 months old and we're loving it. The little jabber monkey talks constantly which is usually adorable :-). He's already learned to repetitively call "da da" in the car, I'm not sure why if not to just annoy the driver. He also points out every car and truck that passes by. My favorite moments though are when he sings the alphabet or as I'm rocking him to sleep at night he lifts his head off my shoulder and carries on a conversation with me with his cute little face two inches from mine. It's mostly gibberish with known vocabulary words interspersed. Usually something about car, da da, bear, light, book, blanket, puppy, and duck. Those moments are precious and make me laugh, which then lead to him laughing, resulting in staying awake longer. I wonder if he's smart enough to know that he can extend his bedtime that way?

Other than being a linguistic genius, he's just a fun kid to have around and all boy! He's still average for height and now 30% for weight. He's finally growing out of his 12 month jeans so he actually is growing! He still only has 6 teeth but he is getting a molar too. I'm beginning to wonder if any of the others will ever come in or if he's just going to have 6 visits from the tooth fairy before his permanent teeth make their appearance? Sure would be more economical!

His favorite household toys include the baggies in our cupboards. He loves to take each one out of the box and bring them to the family room and hand them to us individually or stuff them in a pitcher. It's one of the only things that keeps his attention for more that 20 minutes at a time. He loves dunking his basket ball, driving his truck around the house, crashing into things with his truck, stacking blocks, reading books, scribbling, and playing outside (when it's not too cold). He also loves trains and every day asks to watch his choo choo (Thomas and friends). We took him to a model train show and he loved it!

Finn loves the water and though we don't have easy access to a pool, he loves bathtime! James recently introduced him to bubble bath and now he requests bubbles each time. If I ask him if he's ready for a bath he'll nod his head yes and ask "bubbles"? Eventually I'll have to learn to deny some of his wishes, but not yet.

This cute little guy is soon going to be a big brother and has no idea what's in store. Hopefully he'll adjust well and know there's plenty of love for everyone! Right now he just enjoys playing in the crib in the babies room. Kinda cute.

  2. Finn has such a cute little personality! I love the way you wrote this post and how much it reveals about how Finn thinks. I love that he asks for bubbles and can totally see his cute little face light up. Thanks for letting us watch him last summer. We loved that. xx
