Catch-up

So, I'm officially a terrible blogger and am coming to own that fact. And we've had a lot of fun things to blog about recently! Here's just a short run down of the past couple of months.

First of all, Spencer came home from his mission. Yay!!!! We're excited to have him back. He seems to be adjusting pretty well. Speaks English well. And is already back in school at BYU. Unfortunately, he was able to witness the slaughter of BYU by the Utes last night at the football game. James went too. I couldn't even bear to watch it on TV after the first several turnovers. Oh well, always next year. Here are some pictures from the airport. Everyone is thrilled to have all the boys home.






A couple weekends ago we went up to Millcreek Canyon with some of our friends and had a little picnic and played games. James and Finn enjoyed the little river.


We also went up to Jackson Hole another weekend to go on a river rafting and camping trip. It was absolutely amazing! The rapids were only a 2-3, but it was so much fun. We slept in the tent the first night and Finn did pretty well, slept the whole night. Earlier in the evening we explored the town of Jackson, had some delicious Indian food, listened to live music in the park, and had ice cream. We didn't get back to our campsite til 10-ish. The next night my parents were nice enough to babysit Finn while we were river rafting and they brought up their new trailer so we had a chance to stay with them and roast marshmallows and watch the shooting stars. Definitely a fun way to end the summer!



At the beginning of September my brother blessed his baby girl so we headed down to Utah county. Since we were already going there, we decided to take a little jaunt up to Stewart Falls. Such a nice hike, not strenuous, with a beautiful ending. Finn loved being in the carrier, especially when James ran. For some reason it just made him giggle, which was adorable.




Obviously a trip to the zoo. And of course, we had to take the picture near the gorilla :o)



The following is a picture of our little trouble maker. He was being so quiet and good, which any parent knows is usually not a good sign. This is what we found. Gross, since he also emptied out the bathroom garbage can, but cute nonetheless. I had to take a picture.


And finally, this past weekend Finn and I went camping up near Strawberry reservoir with my parents and two of my sisters and their families. James had tickets to the BYU-Utah game so he couldn't make it. Luckily my parents let us stay in their trailer because it rained all evening until about 8 or 8:30pm and I definitely don't like setting up a tent in the rain. Then it also rained all night long. But it was nice enough for us to have a campfire. My dad did his magic fire which Finn seemed to enjoy. Who wouldn't like seeing pink, purple, blue, and green flames! Once again, I got to have some delicious s'mores. Oh, the joys of camping in style (that means like a wimp, in a trailer, with a built-in bathroom). This last pic is Finn's first boat ride. Although you can't tell in this picture, he did seem to enjoy it. Summer's not over yet though because tomorrow night we're having a BBQ up the canyon with all of James' family who are in town. I'll have to take some pictures of that too.


Quick update on my little dude. He's now 14 months old, walking like a little frankenstein (actually his monster, for those of you literary folk), and getting cuter every day. When he got hungry last night he walked over to the fridge, tapping on it, saying "eat, eat, eat." Gotta love that kid!
